This is a collaboration with the Lake to Prairie Wild Ones Chapter.

We will be meeting at 4PM on July 11th at the Libertyville Nature Preserve Path in Mundelein, Illinois.

After our walk, we will reconvene at 7PM at the Fremont Public Library in Mundelein for our presentation, “How Fungi Shape the Midwest.”

Dylan will be answering questions following the presentation as well as giving an overview on how to use iNaturalist.

The Midwest is a vastly diverse landscape of savannas, prairies, and dense forests.

Every single plant in these ecosystems has a direct or indirect relationship with native species of fungi.

In this presentation we explore these relationships and discuss their impacts on preserving the natural world.”

Dylan T. Taylor is the President and Founder of Northern Mycology Club, currently based in Chicago, Illinois.

His “spark” mushroom was the Golden Chanterelle, shared with him by his Uncle Max (The OG “mushroom man” of the family). As a student at Northern Michigan University, Dylan saw an opportunity to share his love of the Upper Peninsula’s vast mycological landscape with his fellow students and yoopers. He started NMC and has been teaching and learning with his community ever since.

By leading forays and talks in his new home of Chicago, Dylan has been able to impart not only knowledge but reverence for nature in urban landscapes.

As an Amateur Mycologist, writer, community scientist, and disability advocate; Dylan believes strongly in inclusiveness and sharing knowledge freely.

Feel free to reach out to him, send him questions, or Mushroom pictures:
